POST NO. 7 (re-do)

Our problem in school since the starting of the year is mainly about school work. We always have difficulties understanding the new stuffs that teachers teach in class. Then, when we are given work to do, we wouldn't know how to do. Then, when examinations are getting closer, we would feel very stressful then also, we wouldn't do well in our exams. so, our main problem is not being able to understand in class during lessons.

FILA chart:

F-facts - We cannot understand well
- We cannot cope with school work
- This will lead to stress
- Worries a lot before exams
- This will lead to bad results in examination
- We cannot do the work given correctly
Conclusion: So, the work given to us won' t be of any good use.

I-ideas - Take down notes during class, so that we can revise after school, at home
- Pay full atttention when teacher's teaching
- Ask teacher if don't understand
- Get a part timed tutor to help
- Get help from parents, siblings and relatives

L-learning issues - Why don't we understand what the teachers say?
- Why we feel that Secondary 1's work is so difficult?
- Who else can help us in our work instead of the teachers?
- How should we learn/study since we can't understand the usual ways of lessons
- Where can we get experienced tutor to guide us?
- What should we do if we still can't understand the work in secondary 4?
- Which is the best way to let us learn faster and be less stressful?

A-action plan - We would revise our work.
- We would plan a time-table, to organize our study plans
- We would pay full attention in class
- We would engage a part-timed tutor
- We should do our own practices without teachers reminding us. Eg; assesssment books

She's cheerful and optimistic. She never fails to do the jobs that she needs to do. You can trust her to do the stuffs. DON'T WORRY!

She likes to laugh and she brings joy to other. When you hear her laughter, you just can't stop laughing. Part of the blog skin is made by her :D Claps!?!

Eunice Chua

She's a nice person whom you can talk to if you need a shout out how you feel. She is someone who can keep secrets. She will do her work accordingly. So, you can relax if you have her in your team.

*She looks abit weird in this picture because she wasn't prepared for any shots, a real beauty when you see her in person. So girls, better back off WARNING to all camera men: pls inform if you want to take any picture. (Erica has a picture like this too, she was digging her nose.) You see what I mean?

Erica Ang

Look at her cheeky face, do you feel like laughing? She just loves to hear people laugh at her jokes. Even if it's not funny, she would want them to laugh.

She's the one who usually does the most thing in the group as she just love to keep herself busy. She loves PE lessons because that's when she will be very 'high'. This shows that we don't have to take drugs to be 'high'. WEIRD/:x

See that girl up high on the chair? That's her. She's the leader of the group. She has leadership. Don't believe? Do you know what she's doing in that picture? She's the captain of the match Captain's Ball on Sports' carnival. Erica's in her team too and they came in second. Wanting excels in both academic and sports. Don't you think she makes a good ah no, WONDERFUL leader?

POST NO. 8

What we feel that is an invention that change one of man’s many problem?
The telephone is a telecommunications device which is used to transmit and receive sound (most commonly speech). Most telephones operate through transmission of electric signals over a complex telephone network which allows almost any phone user to communicate with almost anyone.

The problem
Communication in the past is very difficult. If you want to tell someone something, you have to send a letter and the letter will take ages to arrive. If you have something very important, the person would not know until he or she gets the letter. Then, during wars, people will like to hind letters in food but that will also take some time to arrive.

Solution
After that, telephone was invented. People can talk to one another anytime. Then more and more beautiful and stylist telephones were invented.

The legacy
The telephone is now used in homes, offices, shops and more… It is now found in many shops like Courts, Harvey Norman and more… Now also there are also phones such as cordless phones, hand phones and more… These devices come in smaller forms like the hand phones that can be carried everywhere you go.

POST NO.7
The problems that we faced using the FILA chart in school are basically 3 problems.

Firstly, we didn't understand the task given to us. Often without the teacher's help or some other groups' help, we would ponder for a long time, and try to discuss within ourselves until we give up and our leader Wan Ting would raise her hand to ask the teacher.

Secondly, The Fila chart is spilted into 4 section. We always couldn't differentiate between these section. We know the meaning of 'A' which stand for 'Action' but we do not know which part of the task we should relate to it. The actions and the ideas are the ones we always mix up, not only we made the teacher confuse, we too became confuse.

The last reason is that we have very little points on the columns in the 'FILA' chart. That's due to the lack of understanding in the task. So$metimes, we would miss out the important points.

Like; we were suppose to make 2 scientific brochure, yet we end up doing different outer covering for each set of brochures but each containing the same information. In the end we had to re-do all the brochures. These are most of the problems we faced while using the "FILA" chart in school.

POST NO. 6

(extract from our report)
How did we try to resolve our problems? The four of us had our own way of resolving the problems we had and so, we discussed as a group. Take the first problem for example, the one which teenagers kept on turning us away. Instead of giving up, we persevered as a team and tried our best to persuade them to help us complete out survey and our interview. We approached them in a polite manner and used the magic word, ‘please’. In the end, we did manage to complete our project because of the teenagers support. For the second problem, we settle down calmly and discussed. We took turns to give our suggestion and then vote for the best suggestion. Lastly, for the third problem, we divided work among ourselves equally. Then, in like a week or two, we would meet up and collate all the information we have together. At that time, we would discuss again. What we would have in the end are much better with all the different ideas. Too, we can save a lot of time.
We think that this is the best part of our report as this show the ways we used to overcome our problems. It also show our spirit of determination (the spirit of not giving up), no matter how big or small the problem is.
This paragraph may also help others who give up easily. We hope that, when readers read this paragraph, they will learn to persist like what the four of us, Erica, Wan Ting, Eunice and Isabel did.
Also, from this useful paragraph of words, everyone will know how hard we tried to make this project a successful one. (:

An interview with a family member.

POST NO.5
We encountered many difficulties during the interview and most of them made us feel very disheartened and discouraged. It also made us lose hope.

We had our interviews at Hougang Mall, Compass Point, Plaza Singapore and Bugis Junction. One of the difficulties that we encountered was being rejected repeatedly during the interview.

At the beginning, most of the people we approached were not willing to help us in our interview. They would either ignore us by walking away or tell us that they are really busy and have no time for the interview.

At that time, we would encourage one another by saying that we would definitely be able to finish the interview if we persist/persisted. We solved the problem by persuading those people who rejected us and also telling them that our interview will not be very long and that it would not take up much of their time.

We’ve learnt a lot of meaningful things from the interview which we can put into use in our daily lives. We’ve also learnt that a lot of things can be done as long as we persevere.

We also found out that teamwork is very important as some things cannot be done by you, yourself alone, you need a group of friends or group members of a the team to help you and encourage you when you feel disheartened or disappointed.

From the interviewes, we’ve learnt more about teenagers and how they think or feel about drugs.

For our brochures, we have got two different kinds. One is for the girls and one is for the boys. Each of us has to do one of each and in the end, we have eight brochures. The brochures come in different pictures. The theme of Wan Ting’s brochures is stickman, Erica’s is cartoon characters, Eunice’s is flowers and grass and Isabel’s is the symbols for boys and girls. 2 of the brochures are just below.

POST NO. 3
In a group, teamwork is need in group work. It’s very important because without it, much stuff cannot be completed. So, the four of us have decided to divide the work accordingly.

Two of us, Erica and Eunice, were in charge of looking for scientific information. Such as, the different types of drugs, why teens take drugs, and more. The other two members, Wan Ting and Isabel, they were in charge of thinking of ideas to decorate the cover page.

Being able to work together enables us to save time and energy. That is because when the work is divided accordingly, one has to do less work and work is completed faster.

Also, in this team, we have a good leader, Wan Ting. She has great leadership and is able to control us. With her in our team, work is divided accordingly and no argument can be ‘found in our group.

Post No. 2
In our FILA chart, for our learning issue column, there are many questions regarding this topic on drugs taking.

We have questions such as, ‘what kind of drugs do teenagers usually take?’, ‘why do teenagers take drugs?’, ‘where teenagers get their drug from?’, ‘how to discourage them from taking drugs?’ and more.

Then, we’ve chosen the question: ‘why do teenagers take drugs?’
How this question came to our mind? This question just came automatically. It’s a common question that people will ask.

Why this question came to our mind? Wanting to know how to discourage teenagers from taking drugs, we firstly need to know why they are so interested in taking drugs.

Two of our team member, Erica and Wan Ting, found out that there are many reasons to why teens take drugs.

Here are some of the main reasons:

1.) They are curious to find out the feeling of taking drugs but they aren’t aware that they will be addicted to the drugs.
2.) They are influenced by their fair-weather friends or to be accepted by others they would like to be friends with.
3.) They feel stress; want to escape from problems and boredom.
4.) They would like to perform better in sports.
5.) They would like to get a ‘high’ feeling.
